CLAUS SULFUR RECOVERY UNITS (SRU)

The CANSOLV SO2 Scrubbing System is a tail gas treating unit that is a perfect complement to new or existing sulfur recovery units. The CANSOLV-SRU system allows a new degree of freedom in SRU design and operation. Rather than reducing residual SO2 back to H2S as is the case in a conventional reducing tail gas unit, residual tail gas is oxidized in an incinerator. Fuel may come from acid gas or sour water stripper gas, reducing gas load to the SRU. SO2 is recycled to the front end instead of H2S, reducing the amount of air admitted in the SRU and the corresponding inert load. Less inerts means more sulfur throughput without investing in the SRU reactors or oxygen enrichment. Furthermore, conversion becomes less critical as the Cansolv unit’s performance is insensitive to incoming SO2 load. Read more about SRU tail gas treating in : "Integrating CANSOLV System Technology Into your Sour Gas Treating / Sulfur Recovery Plant".

The CANSOLV-SRU system offers the following benefits:

  • Increase capacity by recycling inert free SO2
  • Debottleneck SRU without employing oxygen enrichment
  • No need for premium catalyst (COS, CS2 destroyed in tail gas incinerator)
  • Higher Performance (ultralow SO2 emissions <10 ppm)
  • Save costs by designing for lower conversion
