FLUID CATALYTIC CRACKING (FCCU) / FLUID COKING (FCU) UNITS

CANSOLV SO2 Scrubbing or Multipollutant Absorption Systems are safe and reliable choices for emission control on FCCUs and FCUs.

Conventional high pressure drop venturi scrubbers rely on expensive caustic reagent and generate large amounts of dissolved solids in the refinery effluent. CANSOLV SO2 or multi-pollutant scrubbing generates minimal secondary effluent and allows SO2 to be recovered as sulfur. This can normally be achieved without investment in additional sulfur recovery unit capacity as regenerated SO2 is inert free.

CANSOLV systems use low-pressure steam (typically 30 to 50 psig) instead of chemical reagents as a main process input, thus allowing customers to heat integrate CANSOLV with other refinery operations.

Advantages of CANSOLV SO2 Scrubbing or Multipollutant Absorption in FCCU and FCU applications:

  • Higher performance (ultralow SO2 emissions <25 ppm), up to 90% NOx removal
  • Minimum liquid effluent
  • No solids handling or transportation of reagents
  • Familiar process to refinery
  • High reliability; has been designed for 5-yr run time
  • Captured SO2 can be converted to sulfur with minimum investment
